Position Objective

The person will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a collections team.  The position requires the person to develop, lead, and motivate the collections staff to deliver outstanding service. This role allows the individual to learn the operations detail about debt management and collection of overdue debts on behalf of clients.   This role will also contribute to one’s enhancement of their communication skills and develop business decision skills.

 Responsibilities:

  • Management of Client portfolios including New book handovers
  • Leading a team of collections officers ensuring they deliver their targets.
  • Client Relationship Management across all portfolios (Clients needs fully addressed).
  • Monitoring and maintenance of all Client SLA’s
  • Effective management of portfolio to ensure each book is profitable.
  • Conducting detailed Analysis of individual team member’s performance.
  • Target setting in liaison with the Operations Manager.
  • Handling of all Debtors’ correspondence (Letters, SMS’s and Emails sent).
  • Deploying innovative strategies to deliver results from the portfolio under his/her control.
  • Knowledgeable in Debt Collection Industry/Sales or Call Centre Environment.
  • MIS reporting requirements (Client and Management).
  • Review of collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of collection policies and procedures within own portfolio
  • Coordinates with other team members to exchange information and update procedures and collection techniques.

The ideal candidate for this post should have the following Qualification and Skills: 

  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any field will be an added advantage and a Minimum of a Diploma holder in a professional course preferably Credit Management.
  • Three to Five years’ experience in the Credit Industry.
  • Previous leadership/management experience.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have a good understanding of Microsoft office Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
